I thought the express versions were free? I own 2005, but rather than dig out the disk and to get the latest functionality I just went to MS and got the 2010 version.

Now it says I have 15day left to use dunno

You get a free license for a year. After the year is up you have to re-register for another free year. It is and will always be free but they like to have you re-register every year so that they can track the usage.
