Hi everyone I'm trying out Animated PNG files. I like to use PNG files because they have free licensing rather than GIF files which there is suppose to be some cost for. Any way the only thing that has been missing as far as I was concerned was the ability to animate them. So I did a search for animated PNG files and found that there is a way to make them, so I got an editor that can build them and I want to test it out. Now I can see this blinking red dot in my browser which is a Firefox 3.5.1 but I'm not sure who else can see it with other browsers. So if you don't see it let me know what browser you are using.

I can see it in Firefox 3.5.2 and in Opera 9.64. IE 7.0.600, Chrome 2.0 and Safari 4.0.2 won't blink.

So you are saying IE 7, Chrome 2 and Safari 4 can't see the animation portion only the dark red dot?

Well the whole Animated PNG is still pretty early yet. They said that only the most recent browsers are going to be able to render it correctly while the rest should only show the first frame (since the first frame is a standard PNG image).
I'm betting IE 8 might be able to view it. I'm actually surprised that Chrome and Safari can't see it. Especially Chrome since it is so new.

Well I knew it would work with FF 3.5 but I'm not sure with the earlier versions. I am surprised the IE 8 didn't work. Oh yeah I forgot PNG is opensource look how long it took for IE to support the alpha layer of PNG images

On this website you can see if your browser supports APNG. I've tried it with all five browsers I have, and it did confirm what I said earlier.

Lack of blinking should not be surprising in IE8, since it is basically IE 7 with a few additions. The page rendering is almost same for both.

The site I was hosting it on went under sadly. No big deal it was just an animated PNG file and it seems that IE is not supporting it.
