Title: FTP software - what do you use?
Post by: simmo on February 09, 2010, 09:57:16 pm
I usually just use windows explorer, but as I am managing more sites lately, it is becoming a little cumbersome. I think the last time I actually used a FTP program was around 2002, and I used cuteFTP then.

Whats the latest & greatest (and preferably free :p ) these days?

After posting here I checked life hacker (http://lifehacker.com/5042583/hive-five-winner-for-best-ftp-client-filezilla) and they said the same thing, so far its working well.

The trouble with that JR is, you have to make sure firefox is installed and the add on loaded. You can install FileZilla in portable mode and all your settings (including site lists and all) can be carried with you. Now I know firefox can do portable install but it's too much to carry.

Ah yes but it is very seldom that I upload or download anything on a computer that is not mine, and since my computer ALWAYS has Firefox it just works out nicely. Now if only they would give me a really good text editing system for editing my source code then I Firefox would be the perfect web development environment.

I think we all get a little bit distracted from the main topicstarter's theme
