Title: For Martin
Post by: Jason Reed on August 17, 2009, 02:22:12 pm
Ok I'd like to start another topic that we should try to keep going. Basically everything we think fits for our Admin-at-large Martin should see. For example Star Wars themed pictures or videos. Other things that should try to at least get a comment out of him when he does visit.

I'll start with this link someone sent me on Twitter http://twitpic.com/e8itu

Are we that boring that Martin actually needs a special thread in his name to draw him to this site? :(

I have no idea actually. I figure he's busy with life and such. I do know he drops in from time to time. I just wanted a place to put all the silly Star Wars related stuff I find. I know he like Star Wars and I like finding things that make him cringe. Like the link I posted about the Star Wars theme done in 1950's movie animation style.

This is some awesome cartoon work http://www.bitstrips.com/series/73681/

Now you need to understand that at BitStrips the editor is actually quite limited in what it can do. So this guy's effort with this medium is just totally awesome.

George Lucas impressed with 'Star Wars in Concert'

http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Movies/10/09/star.wars.in.concert/index.html

"Star Wars In Concert" is built around John Williams' well-known scores from the films, performed by a symphony orchestra and choir, and accompanied by specially edited clips from all six movies, displayed on a mammoth LED screen.

Anthony Daniels, who has played and voiced the golden protocol droid "C3PO" in every film and most of the spinoffs, provides live narration -- and another reason for the "Star Wars" fans in the audience, especially those waving lightsabers and dressed as everything from sand people to Imperial stormtroopers, to cheer mightily, as they did the night I interviewed Lucas. iReporter praises the 'Force' of the show."

According to this link http://www.beingmarcecko.com/blog/2009/7/20/exclusive-star-wars-x-marc-ecko-watchesholiday-2009.html they are real and produced by Timex.

After getting the Binary watch I'm doubtful that I could talk my wife into buying me one of these. However, seeing that she's a big Star Wars fan I could think maybe about buying one for her ;)

Anyway...he said  "These are some teasers of my new watch collection.  The range is inspired by Star Wars. A mixture of metals, rubbers and nylons.  My amazing partners at Timex- completely rocked these."  I doubt they are in production yet.  Just designs so far?

The cake was interesting but I'm not sure I could have eaten it.

The guy wanting the double amputee is really strange but honestly I think I would love to see that costume in action.

That cake is disgusting.

As for the costume....I wonder if there is an amputee who perhaps thought of that idea as well at one time and wanted a host to help out too?  To each his own.

That's a really good idea for a costume in a challenging situation as this person has.  I wonder how he can see left and right though and while wearing that mask. :(

Title: Re: For Martin
Post by: Jason Reed on October 29, 2009, 07:29:36 am
Heck how can he see left or right with the panels? That's a great picture!

Title: Re: For Martin
Post by: Sue on October 29, 2009, 11:40:29 am
I think the panels have small holes in them, but there he is wearing a mask that I think is difficult to see out of as well...combine that with the side panels and I think the man's sight is very limited at best.  Likely he has someone pushing the chair for him.

Title: Re: For Martin
Post by: simmo on January 06, 2010, 03:47:11 pm
Its non functioning, really just a neck attached to the falcon. I'm not sure that the plastic would be able to sustain the tension of the strings if they were attached but one could probably modify it to do so by adding wood or similar material from the bridge (where the strings attach at the base) to the beginning of the neck.

A nice (three part) collection of images:

Oh I better understand the guitar thing now.  I thought that it was a carved wood guitar painted to resemble the Millennium Falcon.  I used to work with a partner building mostly electric guitars and maintaining any generally.  I built a guitar workshop in my home that was complete with every possible tool and sanding equipment for this purpose.  Design was a part of what we did.  I thought that this bass was something some Star Wars fan took the time to carve out.  Anyway...the picture was not clear enough to me to see the strings or details so thank you for explaining. :)

Why do you have to talk your wife into anything?  Can you not go shopping for yourself and buy what you want?

My wife and I discuss all purchases that are not really not needed for family survival but for fun.

I'll start with this link someone sent me on Twitter http://twitpic.com/e8itu

ooohh that sounds like fun!

I tried to get tickets but it had sold out :(
